As our firm continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced CPA and tax strategist to become an integral member of our planning team. This individual will help clients navigate complex tax issues while partnering closely with advisors to deliver sophisticated wealth management solutions.

Position Summary

The Tax Strategist & Senior CPA will serve as the firm's internal tax expert, providing advanced tax planning and consulting services for high-net-worth individuals, business owners, executives, retirees, and multi-generational families. This is not a traditional tax-preparation role. While oversight of tax compliance may be involved, the primary focus will be proactive tax strategy, planning, and client consultation. The ideal candidate enjoys solving complex tax challenges, building trusted client relationships, and collaborating with financial advisors to create integrated wealth management strategies.

Key Responsibilities

Tax Strategy & Planning
Develop sophisticated tax strategies for high-net-worth clients and families
Analyze and recommend tax-efficient wealth transfer, estate, charitable giving, and legacy planning techniques
Create tax-efficient retirement income and distribution strategies
Evaluate Roth conversion opportunities and retirement account distribution planning

Provide planning around stock compensation, executive benefits, deferred compensation, and concentrated stock positions
Consult on business succession, business sales, liquidity events, and exit planning
Identify opportunities to reduce current and future tax liabilities across a client's balance sheet

Tax Preparation
• Prepare and review complex individual, trust, partnership, and business tax returns for the firm's high-net-worth clientele, ensuring exceptional quality, compliance, and client service.
• Integrate tax preparation with comprehensive wealth planning by identifying andimplementing tax-saving strategies for business owners, executives, retirees, and multi-generational families throughout the year.

Client Consulting
Participate in client meetings as a key member of the advisory team
Explain complex tax concepts in a clear, understandable manner
Develop long-term relationships with clients and serve as a trusted advisor
Deliver customized tax planning recommendations and action plans
Coordinate implementation with clients' attorneys, accountants, and other professionals

Tax Compliance Oversight
Review complex individual, trust, business, and partnership tax returns
Provide guidance regarding tax law changes and planning opportunities
Support tax preparation efforts and ensure planning strategies are reflected in tax filings
Maintain awareness of federal and state tax developments impacting clients

Advisor Collaboration
Work closely with wealth advisors to integrate tax planning into comprehensive financial plans

Assist in developing firm-wide tax planning processes and best practices
Educate advisors and staff on tax-related planning opportunities
Contribute to thought leadership, client education events, and planning initiatives

Job requirements

Required Qualifications

Active CPA license
8+ years of progressive tax experience
Extensive experience serving high-net-worth individuals and families
Strong expertise in individual, trust, partnership, and business taxation
Demonstrated experience advising business owners and executives
Deep understanding of tax-efficient wealth management strategies
Exceptional analytical and communication skills
Ability to build credibility and trust with affluent clients

Preferred Qualifications

Experience within a wealth management firm, family office, or boutique CPA practice serving affluent clients
Expertise in:
o Business succession planning
o Executive compensation planning
o Estate and gift tax strategies
o Trust planning
o Multi-state taxation
o Tax-efficient investment strategies
Personal Financial Specialist (PFS), CFP®, MST, or similar advanced designation
Experience working collaboratively with financial advisors
